NeuroGateways 2024

University of Alabama at Birmingham

April 11-12, 2024

A Symposium hosted by The Consortium for Neuroengineering and Brain-Computer Interfaces

Regions Field Ballroom, 1401 1st Ave S, Birmingham, AL 35233

Parking is available in the Regions VIP lot at the back of the stadium, on the corner of Third Avenue S and 14th Street S across from the Palmer Apartments. There is also street parking on First Avenue S.

The symposium will bring together UAB and external experts, including academic scientists, clinicians, and industry, to discuss the latest discoveries, clinical applications, and business opportunities in neuroengineering and neurotechnology. The symposium has 3 central themes: Neurorehabilitation, Neuromodulation and Neurodata. The symposium will be Thursday, April 11 and Friday, April 12.

NeuroRehabilitation

Neurorehabilitation uses neural activity to control devices which assist and restore lost function.

NeuroModulation

Neuromodulation aims to improve the quality of life for patients by altering the activity of the brain, spinal cord, or peripheral nerves to achieve therapeutic outcomes or restore function diminished or lost by diseases.

NeuroData

Neurodata collection and integration combines the vast amount of neural and imaging data, clinical parameters, and outcomes generated by varied sources and provides a user platform for hypothesis-driven queries and Big Data analyses.

Meet experts from academia and industry who will share their knowledge and research in the areas of neuroengineering and neurotechnology. The focus of the presenters and associated activities will be practical applications and approaches to the technology. The goal is to foster an environment of collaboration in which different approaches to neurotechnology can be explored and discussed. Participants will be able to gain insight on the current state of neuroengineering and neurotechnology and be prepared to apply them to the field.
